 Role: General Manager

Salary: Attractive Salary + Company Car + Benefit

Location: Northampton

 

 

Purpose of the Role

  • Contribute to the development of the Area plans

  • Profit maximised and growth potential realised for the depot.

  • Ensure the depot team is working productively to the required performance standards 

  • Ensure the depot team understand what is expected of them

  • Ensure depot team receive relevant and timely communications

  • Ensure depot is performing to the required operational standards and targets

  • Create a safe working environment for all depot employees and visitors

  • Monitor and report on the performance of the depot to the required standards and targets on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis as required.  Work with the depot team to develop and deliver action plans to resolve any underperformance

  • Conduct performance discussions, including appraisals and disciplinaries, for the depot team to ensure individuals clearly understands their responsibilities and are motivated to meet their targets

  • Work with the HR Manager to ensure that effective resource and succession plans are in place. Conduct interviews and completes induction for depot staff as and when appropriate   

  • Develops and implements training and development plans with the HR Manager and L&D to ensure the depot team is appropriately trained to carry out their roles effectively

  • Work with Field Sales, and Commercial Manager as appropriate, in developing new customer accounts as and when required. Conduct customer visits as and when required

  • Ensures operational costs of the depot are managed to budget and plan

  • Work with the Depot Manager and other business areas/functions as appropriate to ensure the depot adheres to all relevant statutory regulations e.g. health and safety, road traffic, etc.

 

   Skills Required:  

 

  • Previous parcels, freight, high volume consignment management

  • Previous management experience of a transport / cross dock operation
