Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 Plus Car + Bonus

 

Our client based in West Yorkshire is now seeking an experienced Transport Operations Manager.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage Distribution operation via Transport team
  • Lead Department through change required in line with Company Strategy
  • Implement new business successfully as won/ converted
  • Execute and deliver strategic cost-saving initiatives as outlined and agreed
  • Deliver agreed service, financial and quality targets consistently.
  • Identify, manage and deliver projects and initiatives to drive the above
  • Understand the key drivers of the operation, producing accurate and meaningful KPI’s which management will in turn use to improve the productivity and profitability of the operation
  • Manage and successfully deliver key strategic projects within Contracts division to improve financial
  • Provide cover/ support in times of absence
  • Identify and deliver operational improvements which ensure excellence within the operation
  • Provide cover reviews and team meetings/ briefs to ensure effective communication
  • Deal with escalated operational issues by implementing high quality, mistake-proof improvements
  • Develop, implement and uphold SOP’s for operation building robust systems and process
  • Ensure that the operation is planned & controlled in a pro-active, constructive and progressive manner to leverage costs positively vs. revenue

Skills/ Experience:

  • Capability to progress to Director level
  • Experience of managing and delivering change
  • Relevant transport experience including network operations
  • Commercial acumen
  • Ability to understand granular detail at an operational and financial level and use this to drive bigger picture financial improvements on a consistent basis
  • CPC holder
  • Good level of intellect, with ability to work at different levels
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Focused upon metrics and continuous improvement
