Role: Transport Shift Manager/Transport manager

Salary: Upto £40k + £3k Shift bonus

Location: Dartford, Kent

Purpose of the role:

• Responsible for executing the regional plan, and will manage and be accountable for the full transport performance of the shift. In addition will be managing managers in the form of the Department Managers allocated to their shift.

Key Strategic Accountabilities:

• To lead and build a shift plan to ensure that the implementation of the regional plan is smooth, and within budget and meets the WLS objectives

• To understand the depot and transport plan, and lead a team of managers to outperform against the plan

• To support in the building of the transport plan and regional plan, by providing KRA information and feedback regarding implementation, so that the Transport team continuously improve

• To ‘step up’ to meet the needs of the Transport Operations Manager, as and when required

Key Operational Accountabilities

• Managing Managers, in the form of Department Managers on their shift

• Full shift accountability in terms of the transport performance of executing the plan

• Review Regional plan, execute and authorise any changes through the live planning system, Paragon, updating via daily PDR (‘Plan’, ‘Do’, ‘Review’) meeting process

• Man Management accountability for the Department Managers, including recruitment, training, performance management, disciplinary and grievance, H&S investigations, recognition and reward for their teams

• "Next level" responsibility for D&G, H&S, recruitment, performance and any other associated people responsibilities

• Delivery of all commercial targets on the depot balance scorecard

• Succession planning and talent management of the Department Managers, drivers and transport colleagues on shift

• Accountable for the clerks that work on shift and the compliance to paperwork and customer services associated with the clerical duties

• Accountable for the transport KPI's and performance on shift, and drivers allocated to their team

• Direct and coach managers and colleagues to deliver and maintain the transport

• The performance of the full shift

• A team of managers to manage, inspire and lead the transport team to implement the plan

• The WLS, great communications and reward and recognition on shift

• Continuous Improvement within transport

• World class communications to the Drivers, Transport team, depot, and regional office

Person Specification – Essential

• Ability to operate at the ‘next level; management level

• The potential to be a Operations Manger of the future, or potential succession to the Regional Planning role

• Role modelled the values and have strong man management behaviours

• Ability to flex with an ever changing environment, both where the job is impacted and in attitude
